Bio
Bledsoe County is Ms. Suzanne's home and the education and wellness of children and youth are her priorities. Her education began in Bledsoe County where she has lived most of her life. After high school, she attended Tennessee Technological University where she graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and minor in Biology '91. Ms. Boynton continued her education at TTU in Counseling while working for the Department of Children's Services in Bledsoe and Rhea Counties as a Social Counselor for children, families, and adults, specializing in abuse, neglect, and services for children in foster care until 1996. From this position, she went to Bledsoe County High School and served as the School to Work Transition Case Manager through Vocational Rehabilitation Services for students with disabilities and as a Rehabilitation Services Counselor for adults with disabilities to coordinate services to assist with job training, continuing education and securing gainful employment. Volunteering with the Chamber of Commerce, she served on the Board of Directors and Program Committee. Her personal education continued during this time at Lee University where she completed her Master of Arts Degree in Education with a concentration in Special Education and minor in Religion and obtained her teaching license in Special Education.
Upon completion of her degree in 2000, Ms. Suzanne transferred to the Comprehensive Developmental Classroom at BCHS where she served as a special education teacher for thirteen years and part time assistant principal focusing on data analysis and professional development in the district for four and a half years. During her tenure at BCHS, she enjoyed coaching and volunteering for the Special Olympics, serving as a sponsor for the Future Teachers of America, the Aspire Group, the Teen Trendsetter Reading Mentors, and the Students of Service and was awarded Educator of the Year. Also during this time, she worked part-time with the State of Tennessee Early Childhood Intervention Program to assist families and children with disabilities ages birth to two years. Being a life long learner, Ms. Boynton continued her education and completed her Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership, completed her School Counseling coursework, and obtained her licensure in Administration and Supervision as well as School Counseling '03. After completion of her Ed. S., Ms. Boynton enrolled in the Doctorate of Education Program in Administration and Supervision at Tennessee State University where she continues her education.
In 2013, Ms. Boynton transferred to the Elementary School Counseling Position for Bledsoe County Schools. She is located at Pikeville Elementary and serves Mary V. Wheeler and Cecil B. Rigsby Schools as well. She enjoys teaching and counseling elementary students along with coordinating special events and activities for students. Ms. Suzanne has one daughter and son in law.
