HISTORY OF PIKEVILLE ELEMENTARY
Pikeville Elementary School (PreK-5), founded in 1950, is the oldest and largest of the three elementary schools in Bledsoe County Tennessee. Student enrollment this year is averaging 450 students. We are committed to the use of technology and telecommunications in the classroom. Students and teachers make extensive use of the Internet and World Wide Web by active participation in e-mail and keypal connections and innovative student projects.
Pikeville Elementary is now a new facility situated on State Route 30 East in Pikeville, Tennessee. The school year 2003-2004 marked a new beginning for both the student body and school personnel, after much anticipation with diligence and cooperation from the community volunteers, faculty and staff the transition was completed from the old campus to our new secure campus in just three days and we were prepared to open the school on time.
The school is now a PreK-5th grade facility. The campus consists of a single structure located on thirty-one acres. The building accommodates the following:
- main office area (principal’s office, receptionist, nurse, financial secretary’s office, conference rooms, storage)
- preschool, kindergarten, first grade wing with classroom lavatory facilities
- second and third grade wing with hall lavatory facilities
- fourth and fifth grade wing with hall lavatory facilities
- science lab
- two computer labs
- art room
- guidance office
- media center with storage rooms
- gymnasium
- Title I classroom
- speech and hearing rooms
- gifted program/Family Resource Center
- special education conference room and testing room
- teachers’ lounge and lavatory facilities
- workroom for teachers and assistants
- cafeteria
- several storage rooms
